Description
These works form part of a series that looks at walking as an exploration of time, and how sites are activated by the presence of a viewer. Created after nocturnal walks during an artist’s residency in rural Tuscany, I considered the environment of La Foce and its clay hills which had been worked to the point of desolation, but then nourished, brought back, and protected. The native overgrowth around the hills now echoes experience, uncertainty, and a memory, reminding visitors that the natural spaces surrounding us are essential to understanding our own bodies and the spaces which we occupy.
